I am a FAIRTAX supporter but this has come to my attention:
Here are all the non-default entries that I used with the FairTax Calculator that gave the results that I previously posted.

      self-empolyed: no
      married: no
      members in household: 1
      income: $30,000
      income tax: $2,770
      filing status: single
      receiving social security benefits: no
      mortgage: no
state and local sales tax rate: 8.5%

THANK YOU PAT

I had to run it myself...

MMMM......

something to think about.

I going back to the calculator to "investigate"

wow

I hope this is a ERROR in the calculator

I just got this

With the Fair Tax, you get:
   -8.48% MORE
                         spendable income.
    -$2,033.39 MORE
                         purchasing power.
    -$1,835.00 LESS
                         federal taxes.

with this

self-empolyed: no
  married: yes
  members in household: 1
  income: $30,000
  income tax: $2,770
  filing status: single
  receiving social security benefits: no
  mortgage: no
state and local sales tax rate: 8.5%

which maybe an invalid selection but the calculator should have caught it if it was. But I believe it is married but filing a separate return is ok

if true I can no longer support the fair tax.
It looks like the FAIRTAX hurts single and married filing separate??
